A very rare Ming blue and white and iron-red dragon dish
Chenghua mark and period(1465-1487)
Painted with a central roundel of a five-clawed dragon in iron-red
on a blue and white ground of crested waves, the exterior similarly
decorated with two further dragons between rocks (restored)

A rare Ming blue and white dish
Jiajing (1522-1566)
painted with a central roundel of three scholars on a terrace, one seated in
the middle before a screen and palying the qin while the others are seated
on either sid on a chair, the well with phoenix in flight, the everted rim with
the Eight Buddhist symbols, the underside with four flowering branches below
fruiting sprays below the rim.

well moulded and painted in the interior with tasselled symbols, the moulded well with four shaped panels of further symbols, fruit and flowers divided by two opposed ruyi heads, all below leafy flowerheads at the everted rim, the outside with shaped panels below birds on a branch, the blue of very strong and deep colour

A very similar bowl is in the Fries Museum, Leeuwarden and illustrated by Maura Rinaldi, Kraak Porcelain, Pl. 133, where she mentions the rare arrangements of the two opposed ruyi heads dividing the shaped panels on the well.
