MF26 A small inscribed Yixing teapot and cover



19th/20th century

The globular body is set with a C-shaed handle and curced spout. 
The base is inscribed yu ren yi jiang li (beautiful or elegant person near the riverside) and with  a signature Meng Chen
Gilt metal mounts at spout, rims and finial
9.5 cm high

Hui Mengchen is known to have been active during the mid-17th century and was famous for making small teapots for drinking strong brewed tea.
After his death teapots inscribed with his name continued to be made in tribute into the Republican period
