The inscription may be translated as follows:
‘(The subject) ‘Fishermen’s Joy in a river village’ was painted by people in the Ming dynasty again and again. This is an elucidation of the general idea.
(Painted) on the day before Midmonth (the 15th day) of the first lunar month of the year Dinghai (1947) by Wu Xizeng from Yanling’.
