BF80 An unusual blue and white bowl

Kangxi period (1662-1722)

The bowl is of shallow form with widely  rounded sides painted on the exterior in bright underglaze-blue with four lanterns between beaded jewels pendent from a yoke and resting on a lotus flower. They alternate with ruyi-shaped clouds below a ribboned musical stone supported by two fish and flanked by two wasps. The interior is painted with a central star-shaped flower head, an ear of grain on either side below a ruyi border encircling the rim.
The base has a four-character mark zhi lan zhai zhi, 'Studio of fragrant irises and orchids'
