An Yixing ‘Phoenix’ teapot and cover

The teapot is moulded as a Phoenix (fenghuang) with head turned backwards and resting on two feet, the coiling tail forming the handle. The cover is moulded in the form of a flaming Buddhist Pearl. The feathery body is finely incised. The stoneware is of a rich reddish-brown colour
