S27 A carved agate snuff bottle

The well hollowed bottle is of a pale brown colour with dark brown inclusions well carved in high relief with two horses at a stream, one prancing with its head turned back, the other with lowered head drinking from a stream. The light brown ground is carved with rocks and clouds, with few honey-brown vertical markings on one narrow side extending from the neck along the base towards the back.
Height 7 cm; coral and gilt metal stopper

A similar bottle in the Victoria and Albert Museum is illustrated in Bob C. Stevens, Snuff Bottles, New York 1976, No 582, which has an inscription reading:  'Envy their friendship in enjoying a drink at a running brook'.

特徵:淺棕色壺身上雕刻岩石雲彩紋,壺內可見沉澱物。外側深浮雕兩匹駿馬,其中一匹呈回首騰躍之姿,另一匹則低頭飲水。
尺寸:高7公分;珊瑚與鍍金屬蓋。
