BF 96 A small blue and white brushpot


Kangxi period (1662-1722)

The brushpot is of slightly waisted cylindtical shape, painted on one side with a large panel depicting a magpie in flight above a large blossoming prunus tree and bamboo. The other side shows ribboned auspicious objects, such as a lute, a flowering chrysanthemum stem, a Buddhist wheel, a conch shell, books, and two large archaic vases hal conceiled at either side of the screen
