The dish is painted in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt, with a central flower vase below panels with pierced wave roundels and flower grounds. The base is incised with inventory mark N: 376 - of Augustus II. 22.2 cm diameter    

Provenance: A Dutch private collection    

The inventory mark on the underside of this dish indicates that it was in the collection of Augustus II (1670-1733), Elector of Saxony and king of Poland, and one of the most important collectors of East Asian porcelain in the eighteenth century.

An identical piece from the Hans Sys Collection is in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, donated by Stephan B. Sys and John D. Syz in 1995.
