19th century 

A handscroll, ink and colours on silk, depicting the Emperor Xuanzong watching Yang Guifei taking a bath, with elegant court ladies engaged in various activities, such as playing music, pouring wine, etc.
With a spurious signature of the artist Shifu Qiu Ying, followed by two seals.
With four calligraphic colophons:
-One attributed to Wang Shou(王守) of Taiyuan, followed by a seal: seal of Wang Shou, and Luo Hongxian (吉水羅洪先覽)
-The second bears the signature of Qian Qianyi (錢謙益) followed by seals and a note: From the private collection of Wu Ruzhou of Kuaiji (會稽吳汝舟家藏).
-The third is attributed to Fan Yunlin (范允臨)
-The fourth colophon is followed by a seal reading From the Wumei Hall collection of the Lu family of Old Wu (古吳陸氏五美堂圖書)

The colophons praise Qiu Ying's artistic style and emphasize the moral warning conveyed by the subject of the painting.

The painting is 181.5 cm

Qiu Ying, also known as Shifu 實父, was a famous professional painter based in Suzhou.
His paintings were imitated in large numbers, and his name was added to many works done by professional artists.
He is regarded as one of the 'Four Masters of Ming', along with Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, and Tang Yin.

A handscroll, 19th century, showing the same subject, is in the British Museum entitled 'Ming Huang watching Yang Guifei bathing' (registration number 1978, 1113,0.5); another dating to the 17th century was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, 2017, Lot 184

特徵:絹本設色,此卷仿仇英風格畫唐玄宗觀楊貴妃出浴,並畫多名宮廷仕女或服侍貴妃,或奏樂遞酒。署「實父仇英」偽款。題跋有四,均旨在讚賞仇英的繪畫風格,並強調「貴妃出浴」主題所傳達的道德勸誡之意。題跋第一段署名太原王守(印),並題「吉水羅洪先覽」。第二段署名錢謙益(印),並題「會稽吳汝舟家藏」。第三段署名范允臨(印)。第四段題跋後鈐印:「古吳陸氏五美堂圖書」。
同樣年代與主題畫作亦見於大英博物館(編號1978, 1113,0.5)。
