WFE 71 A white jade snuff bottle


19th century

The bottle is of square form and carved on a square stand with shaped panels in sunken relief on the sides. The bottle has four pierced scrolls at each corner extending from the shoulders to the waisted neck. Each slightly tapering side of the bottle is carved with a panel enclosing a single flower branch in low relief, including a chrysanthemum, lotus, peony and prunus. The stone is of white colour with some russet inclusions mainly on one side of the foot, carved and pierced coral stopper
