A pair of fine famille verte dishes

Kangxi period (ca 1700)

Each dish is painted in bright enamels with a garden scene showing five ladies in and outside a pavilion, three playing a ball game, one watching leaning over a balustrade and one coming from inside bringing refreshments. At the front are two boys at play amongst jardinieres of flowers on stands and tables, small cachepots of plants beside a fenced fish pond. The everted rim is painted with heart-shaped panels of squirrels, phoenix and scholars' articles on patterned geometric grounds.
The reverse has three floral sprays and the base an artemisia leaf in underglaze blue.
Diameter of each 37,2 cm
