WF 115 A grey and black jade bangle

宋或更早 青灰石內襯錫膽三足筒式器


Possibly Song dynasty (960-1279) or earlier

The circular tube is lined with pewter on the interior and base, resting on three bracket feet. The well-polished greenish-grey stone is mottled with dark brown and black areas and veins.
The pewter base is stamped with a circular panel containing the characters:
潮城 楊和順 點銅 "Chaocheng Yang Heshun Diantong"

Chaocheng is a location/city, probably referring to Chaozhou in Guangdong or Haining in Zhejiang. 
Yang Heshun is the name of the artisan; however, there is not much information about him. 
Diantong refers to 'tinware'.

Provenance: Formerly in the collection of Jan Habbema, acquired prior to 1936, thence by descent. Jan Habbema formed a vast collection of Chinese art when stationed as a high official in Bojonegoro, Indonesia, until 1936

器呈圓筒狀,內壁與器底鑲襯錫膽,下承三足。玉石磨礱光致,色呈青灰,表面布有深褐及黑色斑塊與絲脈。
器底錫質部分鈐有圓形戳記,內識「潮城 楊和順 點銅」字樣。

直徑: 6.2 公分

來源:前駐印尼荷蘭外交官Jan Habbema 舊藏,購於 1936 年以前,此後家族傳承。
