WFE 77 A rock crystal figure of Shoulao


19th century

The deity with smiling bearded face is standing wearing long robes carved with a shou character. He is holding a peach branch over his shoulder. The transparent stone is of yellowish tone with brownish inclusions
Height 20.5 cm; the figure is affixed to the wood stand

Provenance: An old Dutch private collection acquired in the 1930s
