The brush rest is modelled as a reclining boy with raised legs, his head resting on his left hand while holding the stalk of a double gourd, which has a sash tied around the
waist.
His right hand rests along his side, with a squirrel resting on his shoulder. Smiling, with his hair bound in a double topknot, the boy is wearing an apron with an incised circle pattern tied at the back. 
The bronze has a warm golden patina.
